The 14th Nick Guymer novel.
The Teesside Vote.
There’s a by-election for Teesside North and Central. Julie has decided to stand as an independent candidate. Nick thinks she’ll make a great MP, Jeff expects her to be Prime Minister within 10 years. At first things go well: maybe too well.
But when she’s attacked by a knife-wielding man, it soon becomes clear that something or someone is trying to influence the vote. Who is it? And why?
Jeff is desperately trying to keep his drink licence, after the daughter of a prominent magistrate buys drugs in the club. Joyce Hamilton wants to close him down and that will bankrupt Jeff.
As an old love of Julie’s offers his help to get her elected, her campaign goes from bad to worse and she realises that she will have to go against everything she believes in to win.
The Teesside Vote is set in Stockton, Norton, Roseworth, Hardwick, Hartburn, Fairfield and Thornaby. It is a story about idealism, ignorance and being naked.
We’re editing this now. Expect it to be available in early to mid April.
